Project Description

I-680 South Bound Express Lane Project (Rudgear Road to Marina Vista), Contra Costa County, CA

Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), in cooperation with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), CA Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), proposed an 11-mile express lane on southbound I-680 from south of Marina Vista Avenue in Martinez to Rudgear Road in Walnut Creek. The I-680 North Express Lane Project (Southbound Only), is part of the planned Bay Area Express Lane Network, and will convert the existing southbound High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane into an express lane from Marina Vista Avenue in Martinez to Treat Boulevard in Walnut Creek. The express lane from Treat Boulevard to Rudgear Road will include a combination of widening and restriping.

PARIKH provided geotechnical engineering services for the entire project throughout the design phases (PSR/PA/ED/PS&E.) Elements included a bridge, sound walls, retaining walls (semi-gravity walls, soil nail walls, MSE walls), major cuts, pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation.  All work was completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Caltrans standards.
