Project Description: The Isabel Avenue (SR84)/ I-580 interchange is a new full access interchange that connects Route 84 to Interstate 580. Project included constructing ramps and auxiliary lanes, over three miles of road improvements (including extensions and reconstruction of Airway Boulevard, Portola Avenue, and Isabel Avenue), five new bridge structures, large diameter drainage improvements, traffic signals and interconnections, water quality features, amphibian guidance and crossings, and utility relocations.

Services: PARIKH Consultants, Inc. evaluated general soil conditions, engineering properties, and provided a Geotechnical Design and Materials Report for the roadway and interchange work and Bridge Foundation Reports for the five new bridges. PARIKH provided construction support services to the resident engineer. All work was completed on time, within budget, and according to Caltrans standards. Project received the 2012 ACEC California Engineering Excellence Honor Award.
